We visited Corfu on a Norwegian Cruise in July 2024 and throughly enjoyed the excursion, Ultimate Corfu. Our guide, Zita, was originally from Hungary and married a man from Corfu. She was lovely and provided a wealth of interesting information. We started with a tour of Mon Repos Palace, the birthplace of Prince Phillip, which included a peaceful walk through trees and beautiful views. Next, we explored Mouse Island and saw ducklings, crabs, and cats hanging out nearby. Lunch overlooked the incredible Paleokastrista beach and we could choose beef pasta or monkfish - both absolutely delicious with traditional Greek yogurt and honey for dessert.

Our favorite stop of the day was Esplanade, where we saw the fortress, a park, and the charming streets of Old Town. You can see the influences of Venetian, French, English, and Russian architecture in this very unique area. I would love to stay longer in this part of town and soak in a few relaxing days of wandering in the shops and sipping coffee in the cafes.

I highly recommend watching The Durrells in Corfu, based on the youngest son's memoirs about his English family relocating to Corfu in the 1930s. It will definitely make you want to plan a visit to the incredible island of Corfu.
