Route 66 - Part 3: Kansas & Oklahoma

Day 4
Galena, Kansas
Although Kansas has the shortest section of the route, it is packed with enjoyable sites and was one of our favorite segments. We enjoyed breakfast and a leisurely morning strolling around Galena. Gearhead Curios claims to have the best bathroom on the route, and it certainly lives up to the hype. We even saw some bison roaming as we drove away.
Catoosa, Oklahoma
You can't help but smile when you see the Blue Whale. Stumbling on the grand opening celebration of the gift shop was a happy accident and a great example of the spontaneity of traveling on Route 66.
Tulsa
Tulsa was another really fun stop. The Meadowgold District is perfect for "Route 66-ers" and was filled with great sights, shopping, dining, and activities.
We had a delicious dinner and played mini golf to round out our busy day.
We only drove 104 miles over about 5 1/2 hours then spent another 2 hours exploring Tulsa before heading to the hotel for the night.
Day 5
Arcadia, Oklahoma
It would have been neat to see the bottle all lit up at night but it was still a fun stop in the daytime. They have souvenirs, a restaurant, and every soda color and flavor imaginable. Caden opted for an original Coca Cola.
We stretched our legs and soaked in a bit of nature at Lake Acadia in Central State Park.
We drove 213 miles over 3 1/2 hours and stayed in Oklahoma City for the night.
