During our visit to Sitka on a Disney Cruise in 2019, we enjoyed a day filled with education and entertainment. Our first stop was the Alaska Raptor Center, where we observed eagles, owls, and hawks being rehabilitated after injuries. We then explored the Sitka Historical Park and Visitor's Center, watching local artists create beadwork and sew pelts, and learning about the Tlingit Language. Totem poles, with their symbolic representations of culture, ancestry, history, people, or events, were fascinating to study. Our next stop was the Fortress of the Bear, where orphaned bears are cared for. I was glad to see a bear in Alaska with a fence ensuring our safety. Caden picked out a piece of Alaskan jade as a souvenir, and we enjoyed Dungeness crab for lunch in downtown Sitka.
