What Are the Odds?

We took a day trip from Innsbruck, Austria to tour The Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden, Germany. On the bus we started talking to a woman from Australia who had recently retired and was doing a solo trip around Europe. We had fun talking to her. She told us her general itinerary and we shared our plan of where we were headed over the next few weeks. At the end of the day trip we wished each other safe travels and went our separate ways, joking that maybe our paths would cross and we'd see each other again someday.

Fast forward a little over one week. We had crossed a few more countries off our list and were on a water taxi in Venice, Italy and heard, "Fancy meeting you here!". It was our friend from Australia! We laughed and hugged and again went our separate ways. This was pre-social media and we didn't exchange contact information, but I do think of her and smile at what a small world this really is.
